FeAture ArtIST: JASPER wONG During the 1980's the Chinese government attempted to create their very own slanty-eyed Communist-loving Hulk Hogan. However, the experiment failed, and Jasper Wong was thus born. As a small child, Jasper spent much of his time attempting to grow chest hair through mental telepathy and Kung Fu chopping small babies with his dainty Asian fists. As years passed, he learned to accept his genetic hairless deformities, and instead focused his time drawing portraits of the A-Team.

MUSIC: Fish OUT of Water, Five years of funk, mixed up with ROCK, REGGAE and Hip-hOp, yes these brothers bring positivety, and great musicianship to the stage. Their names are Kyle and Brandon Moon, they both play, they both sing, they trip into new styles and share music space and sometimes even share toothbrushes. They been playing at Boardriders in Kailua were some told me they funk the shit up....

oNG KIng ARTs CeNtER’s mission is to make a sustainable art community. It is a space for creative risk taking, and artistic mastery.

A sustainable art community, exits in mutual support and inspiration of all involved. It depends upon the innovation of the art, the artist, and its positive effect on the community. The ability of the artist to take a chance on learning, or discovering something new, creates a constant cycle of teaching and learning. Every moment at Ong King is a stop in the cycle. Performances reveal work, classes provide guidance, and the space is electrified with growth. Here one can both become humble and try something new, and/or attain new levels of artistic mastery through practice and criticism.
